High Speed Rail in the US?

Interesting article discusses the state of high speed rail in the United States. Also discusses the reasons why it hasn’t worked here versus in Europe, mainly due to greater distances and less population density.
California has already passed legislation to begin construction of their high speed rail between Los Angeles and San Francisco:

I would still like to see Cascadia High Speed Rail built, but mabye not in my lifetime…
