Strong Ridership During First Week of Light Rail
From Sound Transit:
http://www.soundtransit.org/News-and-Events/News-Releases/Links1stWkRidership.xml
First week average: 12,000 riders per day.
Weekend averages: Saturday: 16,900, Sunday: 15,100
The weekly ridership numbers is well on the way to the predicted 21,900 riders per day by the end of the year. The weekend numbers track with what I expected; the line as it is now serves 2 major purposes. It brings you into downtown if that commute works for you, and it primairly serves special events. I know I can’t use it now for commuting (work on the Eastside in Redmond) but I will use it for sporting events, shopping downtown and events at the Seattle Center (in conjunction with the monorail).
