Trolley Parks

Interesting article from MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38349493/ns/travel-family_travel/

Trolley Parks were amusement parks built by trolley and transportation companies in the 1900′s to encourage ridership on weekends and holidays. While most have closed with the removal of trolley systems after World War II a few do still exist.

The only one I know of in the Puget Sound area is Oaks Amusement Park in Portland.

What would be interesting to see is whether something similar may happen with today’s rail systems.
