Why Trains are Better Than Buses

I took the Sounder commuter rail today since I knew it would be bad weather. I also left early, as I wanted to make sure I could get home from the Sounder station. The train out of Seattle was standing room only.

The train ran on time both directions, whereas the buses were stuck in heavy traffic, especially Southbound where Interstate 5 has been closed for hours.

Yes, buses can in theory route around accidents and traffic, and yes if buses had their own busway they might run with less issues, since the train doesn’t have to deal with traffic. But the reality is rubber tires aren’t very good in snow versus steel wheels on steel rails.
