WSDOT Says 520 Tolls Will Reduce Traffic; DIdn’t Work on the Bay Bridge

While WSDOT believes that adding tolls to the SR 520 Floating Bridge will reduce traffic, tolling has not reduced traffic much on San Francisco’s Bay Bridge.
It should be noted, however, that there are no real alternatives to the Bay Bridge except for BART; whereas there are multiple alternatives to SR 520. Also, tolling the new Tacoma Narrows bridge hasn’t seemed to reduce traffic dramatically either. The cost of the toll is worth it if it results in a better bridge and a faster commute.
