Passenger-Only Ferries Headed to Tanzania

Unfortunately the state’s two passenger-only ferries have been sold and are heading to Tanzania. Sadly, the state canceled the service several years ago.

This is a big loss. There are many cities in the area, including Seattle, where you can walk to work, or utilize the growing streetcar and light rail lines to get to work. A passenger only ferry can travel faster and should be cheaper to operate than a car ferry.

As the area continues to grow, with more congestion, and gas prices rise, we will probably wish we hadn’t let these ferries go.
