East Pierce County Cities May Break Away From Pierce Transit

Due to cuts, and outright elimination of service to areas of East Pierce County by Pierce Transit, some cities are considering leaving Pierce Transit and setting up their own transportation systems.
While the loss of any cities in the area is a major blow, this in some ways makes sense. Unfortunately there is a penalty in living outside of the major cities; there is a lack of services and infrastructure. In tough times decisions had to be made to continue high ridership service, which unfortunately wasn’t in the affected areas.
If they can find a way to provide some level of service, even with less service and a higher cost, then more power to them.
