As local and national budgets are cut, states are turning to private companies to maintain and upgrade infrastructure. This of course means that the companies will toll these routes and bridges.
While an innovative idea to fund critical upgrades, companies answer to the stockholders. Nothing stops them from raising or keeping tolls when a project is complete.
Be careful what you wish for.
