The End of High Speed Rail in the US?

With problems in the implementation of the California High Speed Rail Plan, it is possible high speed rail in the United States won’t advance any further.
This would be a great loss to our country. High Speed Rail is the best way to connect cities and regions, at much less cost and hassle than by air or road. Trains are also a fairly green transportation option, and if electrically powered from renewable resources, can be very green.
