Columbia River Crossing Takes Major Step Forward

The Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration signed a record of decision for the replacement of the Interstate 5 bridge over the Columbia River. This means the project can begin final design and federal funds may be available for construction.

This is great news. The current bridge is under capacity and can often be closed for boat passage, as it is the only lift bridge on the interstate highway system. Furthermore, the new bridge will carry light rail into Vancouver for the first time.
