Kingston Foot Ferry Costs $35k Per Rider

From The Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2018048761_ferry23m.html The Kingston-Seattle foot ferry has attracted so few riders that it costs as much as $35k per rider to operate. There is some argument that mismanagement has limited ridership. This is unfortunate. We need more transportation options, not less. However, the options provided must be sustainable and efficient. From The News Tribune: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2011/12/22/1954734/new-rules-seek-to-lighten-ferry.html Due to the growing weight of people in America, capacity has been limited by about 250 passengers depending on the boat. While it is good that we are looking out for safety, it is sad that we had to raise the average weight from 160 to 185 pounds. Ben

With all the problems the ferry system has faced in recent years, this is great news. The ferries provide essential service across Puget Sound and should be preserved at all costs. Ben
