TIGER III Funding Rail Projects

From Transportation Issues Daily: http://www.transportationissuesdaily.com/tiger-iii-rail-projects-are-big-winners/ The government’s latest round of TIGER grants have gone primairly to rail projects. This includes both freight and passenger rail. It is good we are funding rail projects since trains both have their own right of way and can travel much faster than tire-based vehicles. The new gate will be further inland, avoiding the congested I-5 interchange and a rail line, but requiring some driving through a residential community. While this is somewhat unfortunate for that part of the community, the project will [...]

Pierce Transit May Shrink Boundaries

From The News Tribune: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2011/11/15/1906700/pierce-transit-may-shrink-boundaries.html Pierce Transit may shrink its boundaries, removing from its taxing areas cities it no longer serves after disastrous budget cuts. While you shouldn’t have to pay for something you don’t use, this will only make it harder to re-add service in the future. Ben

This is the right decision. With all the jobs on the Eastside in Bellevue and Redmond it is critical we run high capacity transit, sooner rather than [...]
